With perfect conditions on a glorious day at rooster land we saw two close games and two not so close games against our neighbours K/L. The Junior Colts started the day with a thriller and came home by a point, it was great to see supporters from both sides cheering on these young footballers which had a grand final atmosphere. Best players were Ladies Committee Award Mehdi Ghulami, can’t wait to see how Mehdi develops through the season having only picked up a football for the first time a month ago since moving to Australia. Tatiara Industrial Repairs Award Owen Mewett with a lazy 5 goals, Jolpac Rural Supplies Award Henry Dahlitz, Tatiara Driver Training Award Will Harvey, Will has kindly donated this back to his father for some additional driving lessons. Bordertown Fruit Market Award Max McLellan, Limestone Coast Freight Award Jakeb Jackson, Neil and Pam Murch Award Angus Dawes.
With a couple out of the Senior Colts side the team struggled against a bigger opposition but I’m sure these guys can regroup and get back in the winner’s circle before too long. Best players for Senior Colts was Ladies Committee Award Lachlan Makin, Poole’s Menswear & Surf Award Tyson Leigh, Murch Plumbing & Roofing Award Kraig Fuentes, Optimum Cut Award Marc Shaw, Wickham Flower Award Izak Bertus, Ray White Real Estate Award Will Francis and Blackwell Plumbing Award Nathan Geeves.
Our Ressies lead for most of the day only to let the cougars come back in the last quarter to draw the match in another heart stopper, I think we may need to check the battery on the defibrillator if we keep having these close games. Best players were Upper SE Liquid Waste/Creaser Haulage & Bobcat Award Graeme Twigden , Shane Redden Kitchens/Norton Bulk Haulage Award Shaun Creaser, Bordertown Pharmacy Award/ Will Inspect Award Travis Verco, the Prez was hoping that he would have won the Cut Loose Hair Voucher for some much needed work. Ladies Meal Voucher Sam Pepper, Cut Loose Hair & Body Lounge Voucher Thomas Pepper, C.H Wiese & Son Award Rohan Longbottom.
The A graders couldn’t put 4 quarters together, after a good start we let K/L get away in the second & third quarters but it was good to see the boys come back in the last term to put some respectability back on the score board. A Grade bests were Jolpac Rural Supplies/Wise Ford Award Jacob Eats, Densley Earthmoving/ Wickham Flower Award Cam Sandercock, AWE Richards Meat Voucher Steve Copestick, Optimum Cut Hair Voucher Lincoln Weatherald, Bordertown Pharmacy Award Nick Hampel, Ladies Committee Meal Voucher Rory Tink.
It was great to see some of our past players back at the club on Saturday night in Boof Smith, Wobbly Warncken and Crilly. By the end of the night some of our younger players had been taught the art of drinking a good butcher of beer and it was great to see Heather lend her experience to these lads as well.
Don’t forget we have our Goods and Services Auction on the 12th of May, so get your donations and ideas into Noods or Norts asap. Noods cant keep his name out of the paper with another 3 goals and named in the best could see some fines heading his way.
Just a reminder that the clubrooms will be closed tonight, we will head back and support our major sponsor Bordertown Hotel for a meal.
