With our final bye of the year out of the way and some big matches coming up I am really excited about the last couple of months of footy. Before we take a look at how we went against Penola I'd like to mention a few antics from the bye weekend. With Kano's Dadchelor in full swing last weekend a special mention goes to the two old blokes in Tim and Searly, it took them a good 6 hours to drive home from Adelaide as they needed a couple of Nana Naps on the long trek home. I still think that they got lost or they might have just got into that new Pokémon game and found a few on the way home!!
Back to a couple of weekends ago H's Heroes unfortunately didn't trouble the scoreboard but they all put in right until the final siren which was good to see. Best players were Angus Day (Tolmer Takeaway award), Jed Hutchinson (Tatiara Industrial Repairs award), Jaz Readon (Jolpac Rural Supplies award), James Gurney Wellington (Optimum Cut Award), Bryson Hinge (Bordertown Fruit Market award), Nathan Geeves (Limestone Coast Freight Award)
Trenners Terriers kept on their winning way and played good team footy which is good to see. Best players were Matt Leigh (Neil/Pam Murch / Blackwell Plumbing Award), Cooper Ferguson (Pooles Menswear and Surf Award), Josh Francis (Murch Plumbing and Roofing Award), Brad Lodewyk (Tatiara Driver Training Award), Hayden Shuttleworth (Wickham Flower Award), Tyson Leigh (Ray White Real Estate Award)
Mal's Magicians came up against the only team that had beaten them. They put that in the back of their minds and came out firing, played a strong defensive game which helped them get a 6 goal win. Best players were Shaun Creaser (Upper SE Liquid Waste and Creaser Haulage and Bobcat Award), David Wurst (Shane Redden Kitchens/ Norton Bulk Haulage Award and Ladies Committee Meal Voucher), Tom Bailey (Bordertown Pharmacy / Will Inspect Award), Sam Barras (Optimum Cut Hair Voucher), Graeme Twigden (Woolshed Inn Voucher) Josh Tink (Sport 'N' Moore Award).
Coxy's Chargers started well by applying a lot of pressure and playing at a fast pace being up by 2 pts at half time. In the second half the boys went to sleep for 10 minutes and that was enough time for Penola to gain a comfortable lead and hold on. Best players were Heath Caldwell (Jolpac Rural Supplies/ Wise Ford Award), Josh Searle (Densley Earthmoving / Wickham Flower Award), Brent Shuttleworth (AWE Richards Meat Voucher), Bradley Paech (Woolshed Inn Voucher), Lachlan Eats (Cut Loose Hair and Beauty Lounge Voucher), Jed Jarrett (Bordertown Pharmacy Award)
Last week we had couple of lads go up to Adelaide to compete in the Country Youth Championships. They were Lochie Makin and Lochie Murch in the under 15s and Matt Leigh in the under 17s. Well done lads, I head you all played well and represented the Roosters very well. Also Congratulations to Heath Caldwell who has been chosen to play in the SA State Country team against Western Australia this weekend.
This week we head out the road to take on the old rivals on their home deck, there should be 4 great games to be played so makes sure you all get out there and cheer the boys over the line. Afterwards let's get back to the club for tea and the Goods And Service Auction for a top night!
