Last weekend was probably a disappointing one only coming away with 1 win for the day, especially when our senior sides played some good footy but just couldn't keep it up for the four quarters.
It has been a big week with social events with Mark (Bomber) Thomson at the club Thursday night with 200 attending! After tea Saturday the iPod was plugged in and everyone having a boogie into the late hours of the night. Up early Sunday for recovery and a Family Day held at the Rooster oval and how good was the breaky!!! Keep your weekends free in the next couple of weeks as there is going to be more good social events coming up!
Hayden's Heroes gave it a red hot crack this week and even though it said otherwise on the scoreboard they were a lot more competitive. A win is just around the corner lads so keep it up!. Best players were Seb (the better) Trenorden (Tolmer Takeaway award), Bryson Hinge (Tatiara Industrial Repairs award), Ethan Smedley (Jolpac Rural Supplies award), Charlie (Brick) Ferguson (Optimum Cut Award), Angus Day (Bordertown Fruit Market award), Izak Bertus (Limestone Coast Freight Award).
Trenners Colts had the only win of the day and a big one at that! Even with a few players out they are still playing very good footy. Best players were Matt (chew) Leigh (Neil/Pam Murch / Blackwell Plumbing Award), Brodie Foulds (Pooles Menswear and Surf Award), Dustin (Martin) Inglis (Murch Plumbing and Roofing Award), Lincoln Weatherald (Tatiara Driver Training Award), Cameron Makin (Wickham Flower Award), Lachlan (Skuum) Murch (Ray White Real Estate Award).
Mals Reserves started off like a house on fire kicking away in the first quarter. Then the Penola lads showed why they are the reigning premiers having a answer for everything our lads tried. To their credit the game never blew out and you could feel that they were in it all game although our boys just couldn't get a score on the board! Best players were Shaun Creaser (Upper SE Liquid Waste and Creaser Haulage and Bobcat Award), Ben Jarrett (Shane Redden Kitchens/ Norton Bulk Haulage Award and Ladies Committee Meal Voucher), Bud Williams (Bordertown Pharmacy / Will Inspect Award), Zac McLellan (Optimum Cut Hair Voucher), Matthew Tink (Woolshed Inn Voucher) Razor Rae (Sport 'N' Moore Award).
Coxy's men were in and out of the game all day and showed glimpses of what they can do when everything clicks. The lads had a big second quarter which we needed as we were 4 goals behind . Our intensity dropped off letting Penola run away in the third and our boys could not peg it back enough going down by 3 goals. Best players were Kane Cuthbertson (Jolpac Rural Supplies/ Wise Ford Award) Harry Fromm (Densley Earthmoving / Wickham Flower Award), Clint Diment (AWE Richards Meat Voucher), Nathan Clark (Woolshed Inn Voucher), Rory Tink (Cut Loose Hair and Beauty Lounge Voucher), Jacob Eats (Bordertown Pharmacy Award).
We have another Couple of Milestones this week with Mitchy Dahlitz and Clint(Bud) Williams both raising the bat with 100 games each. Mitchy has been a valuable player in the seniors since he has come up from Colts and turning into a good young leader on and off the field. Bud has taken a little longer than Mitch, to get to the hundred but never the less its real good to have him back at the club running amuck in the Ressies.
Rumour has it that a player had trouble finding his way home Saturday night (he wasn't the only one though) problem was his best canine friend did a runner Sunday morning looking for him! Happy to say both found their way home safe and sound!!
This week we take a trek to visit the Border District Eagles at Goroke where two of our sides will be trying to get there first win for the year.
After the games make sure you get back to our Major Sponsor Woolshed Inn for a feed and few drinks.
