First game of the season and we made the trip to visit the Kyby tigers and came away 2 from 4. The Senior colts led the way with a big win to keep continuing on from last year's premiership. While the reserves fought out a very solid win which was great to see. While the junior colts face a strong Kyby outfit and the a grade just couldn't get their noses in front going down by a goal. After hours was back at the clubrooms where the new guys to the club got to experience the great kamikaze Pete. The music was spun by the one and only DJ Mewstick who hasn't lost his touch and a great night was had by all. This Sunday make sure you all get down to the family fun day as this should be a beauty for all ages. starts at 10:00am so get there and get yourself a big brunch meal and support a great day.
H's little tackers went down to a strong Kyby outfit. To their credit they never gave up and did show a lot of improvement over the game. make sure you go get their early to watch the up and coming stars of our football club because the future it looking bright. Best players were Seb Trenorden (Tolmer Takeaway award), Jarrod Ballinger (Tatiara Industrial Repairs award), Ryan Boyd (Jolpac Rural Supplies award), Stuart Greenslade (Optimum Cut Award), Izac Bertus (Bordertown Fruit Market award), Bryson Hinge (Limestone Coast Freight Award).
With Jamie handing the reins over to Simon this year, the rating premiers looked like they aren't planning to take a step back this year with a dominating performance. Using their skill and size they ran all over the top of Kyby and it was a delight to watch. Best players were Beau Shinnick (Neil/Pam Murch / Blackwell Plumbing Award), Matt Leigh (Pooles Menswear and Surf Award), Riley Densley (Murch Plumbing and Roofing Award), Brodie Foulds (Tatiara Driver Training Award), Lincoln Weatherald (Wickam Flower Award), Dusty Inglis (Ray White Real Estate Award).
With Mal on board again but coaching the reserves this year he had first win in his first game back as head coach after being down at 3 quarter time by 4 points, the lads got going and played good team footy and ran out victors by 13 point. Best players were Bud Williams (Upper SE Liquid Waste and Creaser Haulage and Bobcat Award), Zac McLellan (Shane Redden Kitchens/ Norton Bulk Haulage Award and Ladies Committee Meal Voucher), Garion Rae (Bordertown Pharmacy / Will Inspect Award), Ty Devitt (Optimum Cut Hair Voucher), Graeme Twigden (Woolshed Inn Voucher) Evan Joshua (Sport 'N' Moore Award).
With Coxy at the helm this hear the boys came out and thought it was all going to happen first game of the year. But to Kyby's credit they used the a lot better than our fellas did in the first half and deserved to have the lead in the first half. But even though the skills were letting the guys down to their credit they kept pushing right until the final siren and only falling short by a goal. Hopefully a big improvement on the track this week and they come out firing. Best players were Jed Jarrett (Jolpac Rural Supplies/ Wise Ford Award) Clint Diment (Densley Earthmoving / Wickham Flower Award), Nathan Clark (AWE Richards Meat Voucher), Curtis McCarthy (Woolshed Inn Voucher), Carson Clark (Cut Loose Hair and Beauty Lounge Voucher), Rory Tink (Bordertown Pharmacy Award)
On a Sad note last week we lost a past president and long time member John (Jolpac) Jolly. Our sympathies goes out to the Jolly family, He was held in High regard and will be sorely missed by the Bordertown Football Club.
This week we also have a couple of Milestone games In Lachlan Eats who will kicking a bag in his 50th game for the roosters and the big bustling (and slightly overweight) Angus Diment will hitting the triple figures for the second time this year (100 games). These two lads are promising A grade footballers and the Bordertown Football Club congratulates them and hopes there will be many more games in the red and white jumper.
