On April 20th, the Bordertown Football Club held a dinner for a gentleman who as a 79 yr old chose to walk from Melbourne to Hahndorf to help raise funds for the Anti Cancer Council and the Heart Foundation. Leigh himself has overcome heart issues, bouts of cancer and has 2 knee replacements to walk over 700 kms. Leigh has a connection to our Club, as he has been a trainer at the Hahndorf Footy Club for many years. Most of our young lads who go to the city have played football there at sometime or another.
The Rotary Club came on board with us to help raise money for Leigh’s cause, we managed to raise $550.00 on the night.
I would like to thank all who was involved with the event, Leigh is unassuming quite gentleman and was pleasure to listen to.
The strength and the will of the human mind is a wonderful thing, for this gentleman has achieved his extraordinary goal.
