Well here we are again, it's finals time and we've been fortunate enough to be able to get 3 of the 4 sides into the finals. The senior colts have the week off, A grade to play on Saturday against Padthaway and the Reserves to play Sunday against Keith. Last week saw us head down to kingston town and come away with victories in final 3 games of the day with our junior boys finishing the season with a narrow loss.
Tren's little fellas were out to play for some pride and get their name in budget one last time. The usual suspects were at it again which shows their ready to take the next step and play senior colts next year. Best players were Lachie Makin (Tolmer Takeaway), Lachie Murch (Tatiara Industrial Repairs), Tyson Leigh (Jolpac), Jamie Francis (Optimum Cut), Dougal "only girl I've ever kissed is my mum" Day (Bordertown Fruit Market), Joain Tumlos (Limestone Coast Freight).
Johnnie Walker likes spending quality time at his shack in Kingston sampling some of his finest and Friday night before the game was no different, in fact I have it from a good source (thanks Rock) that the night didn't finish till the wee hours of the morning as they were solving the worlds problems. Best players were Ben Jarrett (Niel and Pam Murch Award), Matt Leigh (Pooles Menswear), Josh Pepper (Murch Plumbing and Roofing), Riley Densley (Tatiara Driver training), Zac McLellan (Wickham Flower), Jacob Eats (Ray White).
The magoos were out to continue on their momentum from the previous few weeks and were able to do so. With nothing on the game it was good to get the win and move on and prepare for this week. Best were Bradley Paech (USE Liquid waste & Creaser Bobcat and haulage), Graeme Twigden (Redden kitchens, Norton Bulk & Ladies meal voucher), Jarred Creaser (Bordertown Pharmacy & Wild Mulberry Garden centre), Brendan Kupke (Cut loose hair &. Body lounge), Josh Tink (Woolshed Inn), Michael Long (Sport N Moore).
Hayseys men were of to a great start and were keen to feed Geno early to make light work of the 11 goals he needed to notch up 100. By half time he had 8 and was closing in quickly. He got their in the 4th quarter and was great to see the whole team get around him and celebrate the achievement. Overall it was a great team performance, this was epitomised in the forward line with a total of 12 goals between Geno and our stay at home full forward Tim Harkness, with Geno snagging 12 of them. Best were Gene Robinson (Jolpac & Wise Ford), Angus Diment (Densley Earthmoving & Wickham Flower), Clint Diment (AWE Richards), Sam Devitt (Woolshed Inn), Thomas "the greatest kick in the league" Wheelen (Optimum Cut), Hayden Paech (Bordertown Pharmacy).
Make sure you all get out and about in Red and White on both Saturday and Sunday and hopefully we can move through to week 2 of finals unscathed.
