Welcome everyone to what is shaping to be an early litmus test for all grades of footy. Penola, a top 3 fancied side in both senior grades and a strong junior footy program it will be a great day of footy. Last week we hosted Border Districts and came away with some strong wins. The night time action saw Munga Ashfield tear the club to shreds with his live music. Was a great night in the club, well done to Social club, and sounds like they have a few good shows coming up. Best on ground was Farmer, who certainly celebrated his 100th for the club in style. After young Mewey kicked 3 on him, and some constant reminding throughout the night Trav Verco was that flat he could just slink underneath the door.
Tren's little fellas were back at it again with a fresh group of young boys putting on the jumper for the first time in a game for 4 points. Wear it with pride lads and make sure u have plenty of fun and get some wins along the way. Last week's best were 1st Tolmer Takeaway Award, Tyson Leigh, 2nd. Tatiara Industrial Repairs award, Lachlan Murch, 3rd, JOLPAC Rural Supplies, Lachlan Makin, 4th. Optimum Cut award, Dougal Day, 5th, Bordertown Fruit Market, Charlie Pietsch, 6th, Limestone Coast Freight award, Seb Trenorden.
After drinking a truckload of scotch over summer Jamie's initials now stand for Johnnie Walker, keeping that in mind Johnnie's senior colts played a scratch match against a Padthaway/Lucindale/Btown composite side. With this team wearing Padthaway guernseys it was quite funny to see the responses of some of the B graders that thought they were at the wrong ground. Best players were 1st, Neil & Pam Murch/ Blackwell Plumbing award, Beau Shinnick, 2nd, Poole’s Menswear & Surf award, Jacob Eats, 3rd, Murch Plumbing & Roofing award, Brodie Foulds, 4th, Tatiara Driver Training award, Lincoln Weatherald, 6th, Ray White Real Estate award, Jack Trenorden.
With Sledge back in charge again the magoos are looking to build on the foundations set last year. As always some players leave town and some retire, as a result last week’s team was quite a young team. They all performed well and with a few more on the track as the footy has started the team is starting to take shape. Last week’s best were1st. Upper SE Liquid Waste/Creaser Haulage & Bobcat award, Dan Feder, 2nd, Shane Redden kitchens/ Norton Bulk Haulage award & ladies committee meal voucher, Jarred Creaser, 3rd, Bordertown Pharmacy award & Wild Mulberry voucher, Graeme Twigden, 4th, Cut Loose Hair & Body Lounge voucher, Matthew Tink, 5th, Woolshed Inn voucher, Brent Lodewyk, 6th. C.H.Wiese award, Jarradd Searle.
Haysey is again the club coach and with Mal back in town it's a formidable coaching group in charge. They handed out some jumpers to some guys playing their first senior game for the club and were pumped ready to go, they came out firing scoring 9 goals every quarter for the first 3 and gapping the opposition early. This week looks to be an interesting game and will be a good test for our young team. Best were 1st. JOLPAC Rural Supplies/Wise Ford award, Carson Clark, 2nd, Densley Earthmoving/ Wickham Flower award, Gene Robinson, 3rd A.W.E.Richards meat voucher, Josh Searle, 4th, Woolshed Inn voucher, Bryce Damin, 5th, Optimum Cut Hair voucher, Thomas Wheelan, 6th, Bordertown Pharmacy award, Nathan Clark .
Today we head down the road to the coonawarra to sample some of their best. Let's come away with 4 good wins and set our season up.
